Install multiple Blender

Different projects often depend on different Blender releases, add-ons or production settings. Keeping several versions available is safer than replacing the one that already works.

Choose the right release channel

Stable

The current production release for most artists and new projects.

LTS

A long-term support branch suited to productions that value stability.

Daily

Recent development builds for testing features, fixes and compatibility.

A safe version workflow

  1. Keep the working version. Do not remove the Blender release already used by an active project.
  2. Install the new build separately. Give every release its own directory and identity.
  3. Test add-ons and preferences. Confirm compatibility before migrating a production environment.
  4. Open a copy first. Test important project files before saving them with a newer Blender version.
  5. Retire versions deliberately. Remove an older build only after projects and dependencies have moved safely.
